Density was my final map for Day of Defeat and the one I am most proud of. It is, as I understand, one of the most, if not the most successful custom map featuring the British Army in DoD.

The battle takes place in a town which provides multi-level combat with multiple outflanking opportunities and many floors of buildings being accessible providing a great deal of vertical combat.

From the outset I wanted to give this map a unique feel and with the collaboration of a texture artist, I had a custom texture set for the entire map which made it stand out even more. The main feature of the map was the fact it was not flat and at times had streets with a severe incline. The constant downwards rush for the attackers gave a great sense of speed and for the defenders created a sensation of being constantly on the verge of being overwhelmed.

Once the initial objective had been captured the attacking force was split into two teams, each fighting down parallel streets with no opportunity to cross over till the next objective. This gave the defenders a chance to half the surge and forced teamwork as you couldn't simply rely on overwhelming numbers to win.
